Art galleries are plentiful in Sanibel and surrounding communities such as the Seaweed Gallery featuring paintings, furniture, jewelry, glass and pottery by local artists, Jungle Drums with nature-themed works in mixed media, metal and wood. Others include the Sanibel Gallery, Sistarz Design Studio and Gallery, Koucky Studios, or Traders Hitching Post.

The Big Arts Council organizes a variety of entertainment on the Island. The Gulfshore Ballet Tap Dance Year ‘round productions are enjoyed at the 1896 Old Schoolhouse Theatre that seats 92, the Sanibel Community Center, the Pirate Playhouse for 180, and the Offbeach Players. Events include Art Night and the Bonita Springs Art Festival, Sanibel Shell Show & Fair, and Taste of the Islands.
